QE1 Qualifying Examination 1

修了生の質を保証する制度として、博士前期課程2年次修了前に最初の博士基礎能力審査（Qualifying Examination: QE1）があります。これをパスし博士後期課程（3年目）に進学します。　外部からの審査員として、企業の研究者あるいはマネージャーを招きます。　質疑応答では、産学的視点での考察を意識させるような内容となっています。
Students undergo the doctoral skills assessment (Qualifying Examination 1; QE1) before completing the second year of the Master’s program. Only students who pass this assessment are allowed to proceed to the third year (Doctoral program) of MD program. We invite researchers or managers from the business sector as special examiners.

QE1実施について

QE1受審対象学生(M2)へ開催について通知されます。 対象学生はQE1受審学期には、MDプログラム前期課程の修了要件を満たすよう、各自単位取得状況を確認してください。

〈実施時期〉

  • 大学院へ４月に入学したM2の学生：３月実施
  • 大学院へ１０月に入学したM2の学生：９月実施

〈提出資料〉

  • 修論テーマ名と概要（100字程度、様式自由）
  • 発表資料（パワーポイント12枚）

 

〈提出資料についての注意事項〉
※資料はPowerPoint 12枚で、修論の序論部分を中心に 以下のことを考慮してまとめます。

  1. 修論テーマの背景
  2. 社会や産業界におけるニーズ
  3. その分野におけるこれまでの経過、流れ
  4. 現状における課題
  5. その課題に対する解決策
  6. 課題が解決されると社会や産業界へどんなインパクトが もたらされるか
  7. 今後の展望
    ※基本的に修論の学術的、技術的側面は議論しません。 使用言語は指定しません。

〈時間配分〉 発表：15分　　質疑応答：23分

〈合格通知〉 QE1終了後、メールにて受審者へ通知されます。

Before the QE1 presentation, be sure that all the credits to fulfill the requirement of master’s course in MD program are taken. Master’s course students who entered in April will be examined in March and those who entered in October will be examined in September. The details will be informed a few months before the QE1 presentation.
Documents to be submitted:

  • Master thesis theme and 50 words abstract (there is no designated form)
  • PowerPoint file with 12 pages on the introduction part of your master thesis in the view point of industrial application.
    1) Background, 2) Needs in industry or society, 3) History and trend, 4) Problem to be solved
    5) Solution to the problem, 6) Impact if the problem will be solved, 7) Outlook or foresight
  • Each presentation is allocated 30 minutes; 15 minutes for a talk, and 23 minutes for discussion
  • Results will be informed by email after the presentation
