and study/research environment improvements for graduate school students.
Advanced Graduate School Research Initiative for International Scholarly Excellence Program
(AGS RISE Program)
Tohoku University was officially accredited as University for International Research Excellence on November 8, 2024. We have been supporting the doctoral course students from the Pioneering Research Support Project, funding from the JST’s “Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation (known as SPRING).” As we have now accredited as University for International Research Excellence, we will continue our support for doctoral students.
Due to this context, we will start the Advanced Graduate School Research Initiative for International Scholarly Excellence Program (AGS RISE Program) from April 2025. In this program, we will conduct the below points to ensure the quality and quantity of doctoral course students, promote the reform of graduate school education, and strengthen the research capabilities. Support will be targeted for the students who have excellence in their research and a challenging mindset, with their interdisciplinary, global, and academia-industry perspectives as their basis of PhD talents.

- Career path development for the doctoral course students

Announcement of selection results
Doctoral course students:
Selection results will be announced through the applicant’s graduate schools.Students selected for the project will belong to the "Pioneering Research Program Unit" of the Advanced Graduate School.

Advanced Graduate School Training Programs
Advanced Graduate School Training Programs provide various contents to strengthen your research capabilities and transferable skills.
All the students of RISE program required to take the necessary contents every fiscal year. Details will be updated once it determined.
