QE2 Qualifying Examination 2

博士論文の審査は、従来の各専攻における研究内容の専門審査に加えて、リーディングプログラム独自の企業審査員や外国人研究者等も加えた総合審査（Qualifying Examination 2:QE2）および高等大学院機構リーディングプログラム部門による学位審査を行うことにより、幅広い視角と深い知識の両方を有する物質リーダーとしての質の保証を行います。　受審対象学生へ詳細が周知されます。

In addition to passing a dissertation examination at the research laboratory to which they belongs, students also pass the QE2 (Qualifying Examination 2 for doctoral course students) conducted by the MD program. The details will be informed to D3 students who are going to finish doctoral course in September or March.

QE2実施について

QE2受審対象学生(D3)へ開催について通知されます。対象学生はQE2受審学期には、MDプログラム後期課程の修了要件を満たすよう、各自単位取得状況を確認してください。

Students in Doctoral course will be announced on the details of Qualifying Examination 2 (QE2). Before the QE2 presentation, be sure that all the credits to fulfill the requirement of doctoral course in MD program are taken. Doctoral course students who entered in April will be examined in November in the previous year that they finish doctoral course and those who entered in October will be examined in May in the year they finish doctoral course. The details will be informed a few months before the QE2 presentation.

〈実施時期〉

後期課程を３月に修了予定のD3の学生：前年11月実施
後期課程を９月に修了予定のD3の学生：当年５月実施

〈提出資料〉　

リーディング学位審査申請書（様式: Word）
学位審査事前レポート（３項目、いずれも1,000字程度、英文では250字程度、様式: Word ）
博士学位論文概要（A4用紙２枚）

〈提出資料についての注意事項〉

リーディング学位審査申請書は所定の様式により、指定された期日までに高等大学院機構事務室にメールで提出する。
学位審査事前レポートにおいては以下の題目について記述する、①リーディング大学院において身につけた､俯瞰力､国際性､課題設定力、②リーディング大学院における学習､経験等が､博士研究・博士論文にどの様に反映されているか、③大学院修了後､社会においてリーディング大学院での経験を活かす抱負。
博士学位論文概要は、自身の学位論文の要旨を記述する。書式に特に決まりはないが図表等も含めA4で2枚とする。

※事前レポートおよび論文概要は、指定された期日までに高等大学院機構事務室にメールで提出する。

〈学位審査の内容〉

パワーポイントを用いて、研究の背景、先行研究、課題、解決法、社会や産業に対するインパクト、リーディングプログラムで学んだこと、それをどのように生かすか等を説明する。基本的に研究の技術的･学問的内容の詳細には立ち入らない。審査員は、事前レポート、論文概要および発表内容に基づいて質疑を行う。

〈学位審査の時間配分〉

発表：20分　　質疑応答：25分

〈合格通知〉 QE２終了後、メールにてご連絡いたします。

Documents to be submitted:

Application form of QE2 (Form: Word)
Report of QE2 (consists 3 items to be filled out, each item must be in 250words approximately, Form: Word)
Summary of doctoral dissertation (2 pages in A4)

Important things:

Students are required to submit the application form by email to Advanced Graduate School office.
About “Report of QE2 “, students are required to write about the followings: 1. Broad perspective, international leadership and ability to find the problems that students has acquired through MD program’s activities. 2. How is the student’s activity in MD program reflected on his/her doctoral research and dissertation. 3. The future plan that student would like to apply his/her experience obtained in MD program after getting the job in the society.
The “Summary of doctoral dissertation” must contain the summary of student’s doctoral dissertation. There is no designated form. It must be written in 2 pages in A4 size including figures and charts.
Both “Application form of QE2” and “Summary of doctoral dissertation” must be submitted by email to Advanced Graduate School office.

Implementation of QE2:

Students explain about their research background, previous researches, problems, solutions, impact, what they learned from program’s activities and how they reflect it to their future by using PowerPont slides. Basically, the presentation may not include the details of technical or academic contents. The examiners discuss in accordance with “Report of QE2”, “Summary of doctoral dissertation” and student’s presentation.
Presentation of QE2 is allocated 45 minutes; 20 minutes for a talk, and 25 minutes for discussion.
Results will be informed by email after the presentation
