MD program and ALP’ s Joint Symposium and Workshop were successfully held at Tohoku
The open joint symposium “The Future of Materials Science”, co-hosted Northern Japan’s Two Materials Science field’s Leading Graduate Programs, Tohoku University’s MD Program and Hokkaido University’s ALP, was held on March 10, 2015 at Tohoku University’s Aobayama campus.
Dr.Motoko Kotani, Director of WPI-AIMR Tohoku University and a MD program core member, gave a keynote speech titled, “Mathematical Challenge to structural understanding of Materials” and MD program student, Adam B. CHAYA and a ALP student delivered their research talks at the symposium.
Following to the open symposium, a closed workshop was held for MD program and ALP member. 8 students made presentations about each Leading Graduate program’s activities at the workshop. The workshop was a worthwhile occasion to know the other program’s activities and an MD program student said, ” Interacting with students in different research field was so exciting for me and I was so stimulated by their activeness.”
MD program and ALP’s next joint symposium is scheduled to be held at Hokkaido University in next year.
