Center for Promoting Advanced Graduate Programs
At Tohoku University, we are dedicated to nurturing young leaders who can excel on the global stage through interdisciplinary education that transcends the boundaries of faculties and graduate schools. By leveraging our university’s research strengths, we are expanding our Graduate Programs, which offer advanced and cross-cutting education beyond the limitations of specialized academic fields and national borders.
The Center for Promoting Advanced Graduate Programs plays a key role in this initiative by establishing a system that allows the strengths of each program to be shared across others. Through this collaborative framework, we aim to develop new graduate programs founded on interdisciplinarity, international collaboration, and industry-academia co-creation.

We are pleased to announce the establishment of the Center for Promoting Advanced Graduate Programs at Tohoku University, beginning in October 2025.
This center builds upon the achievements and expertise developed through our advanced educational programs to date. Our mission is to create a framework that allows the unique strengths and characteristics of each program to be shared across others, thereby promoting the development of innovative graduate programs suited to a complex and unpredictable era of rapid societal change.
In today’s fast-evolving global society, the cultivation of doctoral talent with both advanced expertise and multifaceted perspectives is an urgent priority. The center will provide opportunities for interdisciplinary approaches that transcend academic boundaries, foster international perspectives and experiences, and offer practical learning through close collaboration with industry.
With your continued support and cooperation, we will strive to further enhance the quality of education at Tohoku University and produce outstanding doctoral graduates who can contribute globally.
